Hee hee: Kenya has LOST her Girlish Figure (and you know what that means!)

Yup!

The Kenya Bean is "in the family way"...

In a delicate condition...

Great with puppy...

Carrying...

Gestational...

Ah...yes... indeed. Kenya is pregnant!!!!! :D

Just take a look:

The poor girl. She waddles now (how I empathize!). Oh, excuse me.... well... ah... I suppose I should say, rather, she sashays (she's got that preggars sway down cold).

Formally known as "wiggle butt," DH now calls her "waddle butt" (good thing DH never called me that when I was pregnant; he'd have been in deep doodoo, and not the puppy kind!). And waddle she does, wherever she goes.

She's developed "jugs" too (as we call them here). They seemed to blossom overnight -- no warning -- just poof and they were there!

Ah... but she's still our happy-go-lucky, albeit clearly uncomfortable, Kenya. And being Kenya, she, of course, must always carry something in her mouth (and needs to let us know she's carrying it and just how special she is because she's carrying it!):

Sweet Kenya Bean is looking more like the Lab equivalent of a pot-bellied pig every day, but she's just as happy and wiggly and loving as ever. We suspect she's going to make a great mom! :)

And when is she due?

*gulp*

Friday.

Yes. This Friday. March 26th (give or take a couple days). She goes to the vet tomorrow evening for x-rays to count in-utero puppy spines. Then we'll have an idea of what size litter we're looking at.

*gulp*

The new whelping box is almost done (DH has been working on it for the past couple of weekends):

We're setting up the kitchen and pulling out all the whelping supplies today.

And I suppose we'll be as ready as we can be. Truth be told, I'm not sure I can ever really be ready again, but more on that tomorrow.

*gulp*

So... we're expecting! I guess that means I'm really back for LabTails for good now, too. I mean, we can't have Kenya and her litter not get their equal on-line press (blog) time! :)

Stay tuned. And hang on. I think we're in for a ride.

*gulp*

'Til next time,
Joan

How exciting! Little puppies! And a little boy I know pointed at a cat who had "jugs" like that and said "Look, mama! You can see her milk servers!" So now we all call them milk servers.

I hope Kenya has a drama-free delivery and everything goes well for all.
