Elsie is Still Nesting

It's 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning (or very late Friday night, however you want to look at it).

The pups are nine days old.

And Elsie is still nesting (note that she ignores the dog food bin next to her; nothing distracts her from her mission!):

Wow! A lab ignoring an open bin of food? She must be very focused.

Yeah, I'm with Mango! Very focused indeed. Our female Lab who never had puppies would nest sometimes - dig in the carpet, usually. It must be a powerful instinct.

Hi Joan! I have a black and a yellow lab, and have been reading your blog for a long time now. (I found it when I was researching limp tail. My vet had no idea when I mentioned it to her, which I found disturbing.) I finally had to comment. Today's post is sad. Why is Elsie still nesting? I am assuming only females nest? My yellow is female and she does this quite often. The fact she will never have puppies but still has this urge is making me feel guilty.
