Our House in the Wee Hours of the Morning

Here are the pups at 3:00 a.m. this morning (a YouTube video, but YouTube is taking forever to load up on Blogger, so I switched to the link instead of the video window):

Click here for the YouTube video of the pups at 3 a.m.

Here are the pups at 6:30 a.m. this morning (this is just a blogger video, so you can view it right here):

Oh, and DH is out of town on business for yesterday and today. :o)

Now, where did I put my coffee?

'Til next time,
Joan

I love the way Elsie is using one of the pups as a sort of pillow at the beginning of the 6:30am video. :)

Re: the 3 am video: Whew. For how long does that noise go on? Do you hear it everywhere in the house? The puppies sure look healthy and roly-poly and Elsie seems to be coping, but the NOISE. And how are you coping with puppy poo and pee all over puppy feet and other parts? I know the pups don't have the run of the house but it must still get messy.

LOL...she often does, Julia. And it amazes me how softly she sets her head on top of them.

Yes, the noise will only get louder, I suspect. But I think once we start the pups on solid foods (we start slowly weaning them early next week), they'll start sleeping through the night.

Elsie is still cleaning the pups, but if she misses something, we just gently wipe the puppies down with a warm wash cloth.

And I'm cleaning the whelping box several times a day already. I just wasn't up for cleaning it at 3 this morning. I just moved them to exercise pen, pulled the soiled paper in the whelping box, then put the pups back.

I just figure if I stay on top of the mess, there will be less puppy cleaning to do in the long run.

And we keep the pups confined to either the whelping box or exercise pen for now (soon enough we'll expose them to outside!).

Oh, and I'm doing a couple loads of laundry each day just for the pups!

Just wait until we introduce semi-solid food: they'll wear more than they'll ingest when they first start, and THAT's a big mess. :o)

That's life with puppies! It's all good. :o)

Hi Joan,
you are one brave lady coping with all those bundles of fun and your adult dogs on your own, though it has to be said you are doing an excellent job.
